Creative Child Magazine: Holiday Toy Guide Winter 2010-2011 Honors Miss Trimble's Trapdoor: The Perseverance of Christopher Columbus as a Preferred Choice Book.
My grandson and granddaughter just loved these books! They are very educational and inspirational.
Both of the grandkids talked to each other about what they had read. I highly recommend Miss Trimble's Trapdoor Book!
While these are written more for older elementary kids, my 6 year old kindergartner (who doesn't normally sit still for anything!) didn't move a muscle and wanted to read both books in one sitting. The vivid descriptions and short chapters help make the story move quickly.
I enjoyed the colorful language, rich descriptions, and the factual accuracy of the books. I was amazed to learn a few facts that I had not known before reading the books. Mrs. Trimble’s Trapdoor is truly a fun and exciting series to read with your children or for the advanced readers in your life.
My daughter finished the first book in three days. She's almost done with book two and is anxious for more.... We love these books!!! Excellent creativity and educational values were instilled by the writer!
Lori Jordan-Rice makes learning fun. Just tonight my son asked if he could take them to school now that we have finished them. He is in second grade and wants his teacher to read them to his class. My daughter is in fifth grade and has enjoyed the books just as well. If you are encouraging your kids to read, these are great easy reads and they get a history lesson as a bonus!.

"What more could you want in a children’s book? This book offers history, an interesting storyline, and a character with whom many can identify. It seems like a winner to me."
Book Review: "A short creative, fantasy/ historical fictionchapter book series, intertwined with facts and fictional characters. This is a quick read and would appeal most to elementary school aged children, grades 2 through 5. A good addition to any student’s library or elementary school teacher’s classroom. Can’t wait for the next books in the series to come out!"
Book Review: "The books are written in a way that kids can learn while reading and actually remember what they have learned. These books are great gifts for your little reader and also would make an excellent gift for a classroom reading corner."
Critic and contributing writer Leslie Rigoulot of the Southlake Journal, Grapevine Courier, and Colleyville Courier writes about Lori Jordan-Rice's books, "With Miss Trimble’s Trapdoor, she lets a student fall through into the history in action - instead of the inaction that is so often in the classroom."

Book review: "These books are fantastic resources to have on hand in any household. I can't promise A's on every test, but I can say that my kids really, really enjoyed the books - and I did, too!"
Book Review: "What I like about these books is not only their obvious appeal as living history books with a character kids can relate too, there is also a moral lesson weaved in."
Book Review: "Lori Jordan-Rice creates a fantasy world by taking a classroom setting and throwing in a touch of magic to formulate something that children will love."
